Volunteer

Volunteers keep the shelter running and make the animals' days better. Pick a shift and sign up in two taps.

What volunteers do

  • Kennel care. Clean and refill kennels, set out fresh water and bedding.
  • Dog walking. Walk dogs and give them a break from the kennel.
  • Cat and small animal time. Play with and socialize cats so they are ready for a home.
  • Laundry and dishes. Keep blankets, towels, and bowls clean. It matters more than it sounds.
  • Events and front desk. Help at adoption events and greet visitors.

Which roles are open changes week to week. Each shift below says what it needs.

Who can volunteer

  • Ages 18 and older can volunteer on their own.
  • Ages 10 to 17 can volunteer with an adult. Call or email us first so we can plan for you.
  • We ask for about 6 hours a month, but one shift is a fine place to start.

Questions volunteers ask

Do I need experience with animals?

No. Training is given on your first shift, and each shift lists what it needs.

How much time do I need to give?

Whatever fits. Many volunteers give about 6 hours a month, and a single shift is a good way to start.

How old do I need to be?

Volunteers 18 and older can join any shift on their own. Ages 10 to 17 can volunteer with an adult. Each shift shows its own age rule.

What should I wear?

Closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Shifts that need anything else say so.

What if I cannot make it?

Cancel from this page or from My PawHeaven so someone else can take your spot.

Who do I ask about something else?
